Fethiye Quad Safari: What to Wear
What to wear on a Fethiye quad safari: footwear, trousers, sunglasses and layers by season. A month-by-month clothing guide from April to November.
The right outfit for a Fethiye quad safari is: closed sports shoes that cover the ankle, flexible trousers that are long or reach to the knee, a T-shirt you won't mind getting dirty, and sunglasses. The route passes through pine forests and rocky ridges around Kayaköy, so sandals and flip-flops are not suitable. The only things that change with the season are the top layer and the amount of water; I explain each period below.
What to wear on a Fethiye quad safari in each season
You are riding on an unpaved route, so choose your clothing with dust, stones and branches in mind before comfort.
- Footwear: Closed, non-slip sports shoes or light walking shoes. Sandals, flip-flops and heels are not suitable.
- Bottoms: Stretchy trousers that protect your knees are comfortable. If you wear shorts, your legs will be exposed to dust and small stones kicked up from the ground.
- Top: A short-sleeved, breathable T-shirt. Avoid light colours, as dust shows easily on them.
- Sunglasses: Sunglasses protect you from wind and dust. If you wear contact lenses, bring your glasses too.
- Hair: Tie long hair back. Loose hair under a helmet is uncomfortable.
- Neck gaiter: A thin bandana or buff helps you cover your nose and mouth when dust is kicked up.
Of these, footwear is the most important. On rocky sections, a shoe that keeps your foot secure makes the ride both comfortable and controlled.

What to wear in Fethiye in April–May
In spring the daytime is generally mild, but it can be cool in the morning and evening. The temperature also drops in the shade of the pine forest. A thin, long-sleeved top or a light zip-up fleece works well; you can tie it around your waist once you warm up.
On days after rain, the tracks may be muddy. Be prepared for your clothing to get dirty and bring a spare T-shirt.
What is needed to ride a quad in the heat in June–September?
In the summer months, your main concern is heat and sun. Choose light, breathable fabrics, but try not to leave your arms and legs completely bare; the wind cools you, while the sun burns without you noticing.
- Apply sunscreen before you leave.
- A hat is uncomfortable under a helmet; use a thin bandana instead.
- Bring a water bottle. It can be hard to carry during the tour, so ask your guide whether you can get water at the rest stop.
- If you want to avoid the midday heat, choose an earlier or later time when booking if possible. Check the time options on the tour page.
Fethiye quad safari in October: what to wear now
October is a comfortable month for this tour. The summer heat generally eases and crowds decrease. Even so, the weather can cool quickly towards evening.
- A T-shirt and light trousers are enough for midday.
- If you have chosen a morning or near-sunset time, bring a thin windbreaker or a long-sleeved top.
- Towards the end of October, the first rains may arrive. Monitor the weather forecast a few days in advance; on rainy days the route and schedule may change, so ask the place where you booked.
Can you ride a quad from November to March, and what should you wear?
In the winter months, rainfall increases in Fethiye and the days get shorter. Riding makes the wind noticeable, so you will need a windproof jacket, thin gloves and long trousers. Dress in layers so that you can take off items once you warm up.
Whether the tour runs in these months depends on weather and road conditions. Confirm before you travel.

What should you not bring with you?
- Valuable jewellery: Rings, necklaces and dangling earrings can get caught or be lost while riding in a helmet.
- Large bag: It is difficult to carry on a quad. Put your phone and keys in a zipped pocket.
- Expensive glasses: Leave glasses at home if you would worry about them being scratched or falling off.
- White or favourite clothing: It can get stained with dust and dirt.
If you want to take photos with your phone, take them at the rest stop rather than while riding.
How does the Fethiye quad safari work?
The Fethiye: Quad Safari with Buggy Option and Door-to-Door Pickup route passes through pine forests and rocky ridges around Kayaköy; it has nothing to do with asphalt roads. The tour lasts about 3 hours and hotel pickup is included. When booking, you choose between a single quad, a double quad or a heavy-duty buggy shared with others.
A short guide to who should choose which:
- Single quad: For those who want to ride at their own pace.
- Double quad: For two people travelling together; one drives while the other sits behind.
- Buggy: For those who don't enjoy the balance of a quad or who want a more enclosed vehicle. Remember that it is shared.
Conditions such as age, licence and weight may change. Read the current information on the tour page before booking.
Frequently asked questions
Can I wear shorts on a Fethiye quad safari?
You can, but we don't recommend it. Stones, branches and dust may hit your legs. Long, flexible trousers are more comfortable.
Do I need to buy special clothing for the quad tour?
No. Sports shoes, comfortable trousers and a T-shirt are enough. Choose items you won't mind getting dirty.
Does the quad safari go ahead on a rainy day?
It depends on the weather and road conditions. Rain can make the track muddy; ask the organiser for the current situation before the day of the tour.
What should I do if I wear glasses?
Use sunglasses or protective glasses for wind and dust. If you have prescription glasses, you may want to secure them with a strap or cord so they don't slip off.
